Breast Reconstruction
Reconstruction of a breast that has been removed due to cancer or other disease is one of the most rewarding surgical procedures available today.

Multiple techniques have been developed to create a breast that can come close in form and appearance to matching a natural breast. Frequently, reconstruction is possible immediately following breast removal (mastectomy), so the patient wakes up with a breast mound already in place, having been spared the experience of seeing herself with no breast at all. Reconstruction is performed with either prosthetic devices such as tissue expanders and implants, with your own tissue, or a combination of the two.

But bear in mind, post-mastectomy breast reconstruction is not a simple procedure. There are often many options to consider as you and Dr. Bogue explore what's best for you. Your consultation with Dr. Bogue will consist of a review of your cancer, the oncologic plan, your anatomy and goals, and which options for reconstruction are best for you.
Our educational video will give you a basic understanding of the procedures -- when they are appropriate, they’re done, and what results you can expect. Our photo gallery is also useful to see the different outcomes and what can be expected.
The educational video and the photos cannot answer all of your questions but they should provide you with some useful information prior to having your in depth consultation with Dr. Bogue.
