What Should I Expect During a Plastic Surgery Consultation?
Your consultation begins with a discussion of what you would like to change and what outcome you hope to achieve. Dr. Bogue reviews your medical history, medications, previous procedures, and any health factors that could affect treatment or recovery. He then performs an examination and explains which options are most appropriate for your anatomy and goals.
The discussion may include surgical technique, incision placement, anesthesia, expected recovery, potential risks, and whether procedures can be combined safely. You will also discuss whether treatment may be submitted to insurance or will be self-pay. For cosmetic surgery, the practice provides an itemized written quote outlining the anticipated fees.
You will have time to ask questions and will leave with a clear understanding of the recommended plan.
How Should I Prepare for My Consultation?
Bring a current list of medications and supplements, relevant medical or surgical information, and any questions you want to discuss. If you have breast implants, bring any available information about them; your breast implant identification card is especially helpful.
Reference photographs may help communicate your preferences, but they serve as a guide rather than a result that can be duplicated exactly.
