For many people as they get older, keeping a trim physique is harder to do. With the many responsibilities that demand attention, it can be difficult to maintain a dedicated exercise routine and eat as healthy as you should. Those factors, along with a metabolism that slows as we age, can cause little pockets of fat to form around the body, and for many people, that area is the abdomen.
These unsightly deposits of fat can be embarrassing and even affect your confidence. It doesn’t just happen to those who rarely workout, these troublesome areas of fat can develop on those who diet and exercise as well. That’s why we offer multiple tummy tuck options at our office to help those with stubborn pockets of fat in their midsection trim and define their body.
Our board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. David Bogue understands that everyone is unique and has specific issues, which is why he offers a range of tummy tuck options to help everyone achieve the slim and toned figure they desire. By tailoring the procedure to your exact needs and goals, Dr. Bogue can achieve exceptional results in eliminating small areas of fat while also reducing excess skin and tightening the abdominal muscles.
The tummy tuck options we offer at our office include:
- Full tummy tuck:Â This procedure is for those who would like to address small amounts of fat across their whole abdomen. This method eliminates fat and excess skin above and below the belly button. An overnight stay may be required after this procedure for proper recovery.
- Mini tummy tuck:Â This procedure is great for those who just have a small amount of extra skin and fat below their belly button. This method produces a smaller scar and is typically an outpatient procedure in which you can go home shortly after the operation.
- Extended tummy tuck:Â This procedure is a lot like the full tummy tuck, however, it also addresses fat and skin on the outer thighs as well. This method does require a larger incision and an overnight stay to endure proper recovery.
- Circumferential body lift:Â This procedure is an all-encompassing procedure that addresses the abdomen, flanks, lower back, outer thighs, and buttocks. Generally performed on those with significant weight loss, this procedure requires an overnight stay as well and does have a longer recovery period compared to the other procedures.
While these procedures mainly address small amounts of fat and excess skin, each one can also tighten your abdominal muscles if needed. Dr. Bogue may also recommend combining any of the above procedures with liposuction for the best possible results. However, it’s important to note that tummy tucks and liposuction are not meant as weight-loss solutions and ideal candidates should be at or near a healthy weight before considering these procedures.
